Barcelona defender Gerard Pique believes Liverpool have the best chance of ripping the Premier League title away from Manchester City this season.

The ex-Manchester United centre-back heaped praise on the side who used to be his rivals and their progression under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Pique spent four years at Manchester United as a youngster between 2004-2008

“I think Jurgen Klopp is doing a great job at Liverpool,” Pique told the Daily Star.

“The style of play is the opposite of Guardiola. They like to counter attack and have very quick players up front who score goals – like Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.

Looking at the 2018/19 campaign, the 31-year-old predicted a gripping English league title race, unlike the past two seasons.

“It will be a challenge for City as Liverpool have a great team,” he continued. “I think it will be quite exciting.”

When quizzed over whether he would ever leave Barcelona to play in the Premier League again, Pique admitted: “I don’t think so. I’m very happy here.

“It’s my home, with my family and friends, and playing for the club I always dreamed to play, and I hope to win more titles here.”
