Josh Vela will not leave Bolton before Friday’s loan deadline despite interest from Leeds United.

Vela, the midfielder, has entered the final year of his contract with Wanderers, and there have been suggestions he could leave the club on a loan-to-buy arrangement.

Vela has been linked with Leeds since the January transfer window

Leeds have been reported admirers of the 24-year-old, who has made over 150 appearances for Bolton since debuting in 2012, with the Elland Road club said to be monitoring Vela’s contract situation.

However, the Bolton News say suggestions that Vela will leave before Friday’s loan deadline have been dismissed by Wanderers.

Leeds’ interest in Vela was reported back in January, and they are likely to keep tabs on the midfielder knowing he has less than 12 months remaining on his contract.

Marcelo Bielsa is still looking to bring one more player to Elland Road before Friday’s deadline, with the Argentine keen on signing cover for the attacking midfield position.

Bielsa is hoping to complete one more signing before the loan window closes

Though the window for permanent transfers closed earlier this month, Football League sides are able to bring players in on loan until 5pm on August 31.
