WWE and AEW news: Paul Heyman is a big fan of three WWE superstars, Ali rubbishes surgery claims

The go-home shows for Raw and SmackDown Live take place next week ahead of WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

Below, talkSPORT dig into today’s rumours…

WWE superstar Ali hit back at a story claiming he had undergone surgery this week

Paul Heyman is a big fan of three WWE superstars

In his new executive director role of Raw, Heyman is believed to have had creative control over some of the segments in a well-received episode on Monday.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer claims Heyman is hot on Ricochet, Aleister Black, and Lacey Evans.

AJ Styles turned on Ricochet on this week’s Raw taping

Ricochet looks set to be in a United States Championship summer programme with AJ Styles, Evans has been battling Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship, while Black is still waiting for his first Singles feud on the main roster.

Ali hits back at surgery claims

Ali has had rotten luck with injuries this year. He was ruled out of the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in February as Kofi Kingston took his spot and went on to defeat Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35.

WWE have been airing pre-taped promos of Ali in recent weeks, but he has been used sparingly in the ring since the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match in May.

A report claimed Ali had undergone surgery earlier this week, however, the former 205 Live star hit back by tweeting ‘Ummm…I had a root canal procedure on Wednesday. I think I’ll be okay’.

Sasha Banks posts another cryptic tweet

Banks has not been seen on WWE TV since losing the Women’s Tag Team titles to the IIconics at WrestleMania 35.

After claims that she had asked for her release, recent reports say she is taking an extended break from the company.

On Thursday, she tweeted ‘It’s worth fighting for’, which could be a reference to her WWE future.

Two matches announced for next week’s Raw

After being called out on Twitter, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch will take on Andrade and Zelina Vega in a mixed tag team match on Raw.

It could be the perfect warm-up for Rollins and Lynch, who are putting their titles on the line in another mixed tag team match against Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans at Extreme Rules.

Raw will also include a tag team match with Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre facing Roman Reigns and a partner of McMahon’s choosing.
