Premier League players with most errors leading to goals this season include stars from Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham

David De Gea was under more pressure following another mistake leading to a goal on Sunday against Chelsea.

He should have done better with Antonio Rudiger’s shot than palmed it into the path of Marcos Alonso, who scored to make it 1-1.

David De Gea made a costly error against Chelsea

The Manchester United goalkeeper has made three errors leading to goals in four games, in all competitions.

His three previous errors came in 129 appearances and there have even been calls for him to be dropped.

The 28-year-old was at fault for a Barcelona goal as they were dumped out of the Champions League.

He then should have done better with a Leroy Sane shot in the Manchester derby last week as they were beaten 2-0.

De Gea’s mistake proved costly

De Gea has not made the most errors leading to goals, though, in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has even made more than the United stopper.

Gareth Southgate’s admission that Jordan Pickford is still England’s No.1 certainly raised a few eyebrows.

The Three Lions boss named his squad to face Montenegro and the Czech Republic on Wednesday and declared Pickford is still the main man between the sticks.

Origi capitalised on Jordan Pickford’s error in the Merseyside derby in December

Not only is Burnley shot-stopper Tom Heaton in terrific form, but the Toffees star has made a rather unfortunate habit of making costly errors this season.

In Russia, the 25-year-old became something of a cult hero with his performances for the national side.

His penalty save in the shootout against Colombia and a series of gravity-defying stops against Sweden captured the imagination – even inspiring Ross Kemp to take his short off and film a number of questionable videos….

But his mistakes in the big games are beginning to cost Marco Silva’s men and the fact his position in the national team seems secure is surprising, to say the least.

Kieran Trippier missed a penalty in the 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup

Pickford is not the only Englishman to struggle after an incredible summer, with Kieran Trippier failing to replicate his form from Russia for Tottenham Hotspur.
