Toni Kroos has hit back at Bernd Schuster after the former Real Madrid manager labelled him a “diesel tractor”.

Schuster, who guided Los Blancos to La Liga and Super Cup glory in the 2007/08 season, was hugely critical of the Bernabeu outfit following their 3-0 home defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.

Speaking on El Transistor radio, Schuster said: “That midfield couldn’t even win against Girona’s. Kroos is now a diesel tractor.

“Madrid are missing goals. They lost the best scorer in their history this season.

However, his fellow countryman and World Cup winner Kroos was having none of the criticism and took aim at Schuster on social media.
