There were concerns from some fans at the beginning of this series of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here that Harry Redknapp could lose his marbles and mistake singer Fleur East for ex-Colombia midfielder Carlos Valderrama on account of her huge hair!
And two weeks on from when Harry first set foot in the jungle it seems the former Tottenham, Bournemouth, West Ham and Southampton boss has finally mistaken Fleur – or ‘Flair’ as he now calls her – for a professional footballer.
When she was on her way to do her Bushtucker Trial, Harry said to his campmate that she reminded him of a midfield dynamo and he said he would call some of the Premier League’s top clubs to try and get her signed up.
She’s certainly got the fight, winning all ten stars as she showed a great deal of resilience and fitness to whack open a piñata containing gold stars in them while lying on a pizza-style board accompanied by all kinds of jungle critters and rotten food.
It was a great effort from Fleur but all the attention on Twitter was from these fans loving the thought of Harry trying to make his campmate a Premier League footballer after the show finishes.
Harry and Fleur have become great friends lately, particularly when the pair have started singing songs together – including a tune in honour of Harry’s wife Sandra that they hope to drop just in time to make a late push for Christmas No.1!
They were a part of a trio along with Malique Thompson-Dwyer but the actor was voted off in last night’s episode. If anything though, this will only make Harry and Fleur’s bond stronger and if that means more songs from MC Hazza then I’m all for it.
We also saw Harry do the Dingo Dollar Challenge with actor Rita Simons – who he’s admitted he’s scared of – but the two actually got on really well together.
The challenge was a test of patience as they had to extract these golden nuggets from piles of sand in the jungle and place them on to some scales which would eventually give them the dollars once they reached the correct weight.
Harry and Rita were dressed in dungarees and were thus looking like your typical redneck.
They even had a go at doing the accents and Rita was unsurprisingly quite good at hers. Meanwhile, Harry’s was a decent effort for someone with no acting experience, even if it was cringy when he tailed off into an Australian accent!
However, their efforts came to nothing as the celebs answered the multiple choice question incorrectly – so there were no ice pops heading back to camp.
It was a busy end to the show for Harry too as he was stood right next to John Barrowman when the actor rolled his ankle and was subsequently taken to hospital. I’m a Celeb hosts Holly Willoughby and Declan Donnelly announced it was just a sprain to John’s ankle so he is expected to rejoin the show soon.
The celebs also took it in turns to say who they would have in a fantasy dinner party with Harry selecting a star-studded line-up of Muhammad Ali, Frank Sinatra and Sir Winston Churchill.
All the guests are legends in their respective fields but if Harry can continue as he is, he’s well on to become an I’m a Celeb legend!
