Italian side Genoa have snubbed West Ham’s opening offer for versatile midfielder Diego Laxalt, according to reports in Italy.
The Hammers have been remarkably busy in the transfer market this summer, smashing their club record to sign Felipe Anderson and drafting in six other players as well, including Jack Wilshere and Ryan Fredericks on free transfers, and Lukasz Fabianski, Fabian Balbuena, Issa Diop and Andriy Yarmolenko in big-money moves.
However, Manuel Pellegrini, West Ham’s new manager, doesn’t appear to have finished and the Chilean is reportedly working hard on a deal for Laxalt.

The Uruguay international is in high demand after impressing for his country at the World Cup, and he’s expected to leave Genoa this summer, with many top European clubs interested.
West Ham were looking to steal a march on their transfer rivals and lodged an opening £10million bid, but Genoa have moved swiftly to reject the offer, which falls well below their £18m asking price.
The Serie A side are prepared to sell Laxalt, but they will not be bullied into losing him for anything less than what they are demanding.
