Tottenham transfer news: Daniel Levy ‘contacts’ Real Madrid over Christian Eriksen sale

30 Jun

Daniel Levy has reportedly contacted Real Madrid over the sale of Christian Eriksen.

The Tottenham midfielder, whose deal runs out next summer, has publicly admitted he wants to leave the club.

Christian Eriksen is keen to leave Tottenham

Spurs have been trying to extend Eriksen’s contract for months, but have failed to come to an agreement.

And Spanish outlet Marca claim Tottenham chairman Levy has called Real Madrid chief Jose Angel Sanchez to offer the LaLiga giants the chance to sign Eriksen.

Levy would rather cash in on the Denmark international than lose him for nothing next year.

But Real Madrid are believed to be prioritising moves for Manchester United star Paul Pogba and Ajax ace Donny van de Beek.

Paul Pogba has been heavily linked with Real Madrid

Real could reignite their interest in £62million-rated Eriksen if they fail to land Pogba and Van de Beek.

When asked about his future earlier this month, Eriksen said: “I feel that I am in a place in my career where I might want to try something new.

“I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened at Tottenham – I will not be negative. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.

“I hope there will be a resolution during the summer. That’s the plan.

“In football you do not know when a resolution will happen. It can happen anytime. Everyone wants the best to happen as soon as possible, but in football, it takes time.”

Eriksen has scored 66 goals in 271 appearances since joining Tottenham in a £12.5million deal from Ajax in 2013.

Van de Beek has previously talked about his desire to play in the Premier League and Old Trafford has been mentioned as a potential destination.

Fosu-Mensah, who was on loan at Fulham last season, also posed alongside fellow Dutch pal Wesley Sneijder as the three enjoyed some downtime in Ibiza.

But it was the sight of the 22-year-old prodigy alongside him which excited United fans.

Respected Dutch football journalist Marcel van der Kraan revealed De Beek is keen on playing in the English top flight next season.

He told talkSPORT: “Van de Beek has his eyes set on the Premier League.

“He is a Premier League type player with an Ajax education and can play in many positions in midfield.

“He wants a move to Man United or Spurs and his agent says if that materialises that would be right up his street.”

Fans certainly agree with those sentiments, with them urging “Agent TFM” to do his thing.

There was a suggestion that the goal was offside after seeing initial replays.

The goal was checked by the VAR team but it was decided it was a fair goal and it was awarded.

It was a close decision but this one did not go in Tottenham’s favour, unlike the Sergio Aguero goal that was disallowed in the quarter-final.

Later replays showed that Van de Beek was just onside but some fans were left convinced the goal should have been ruled out.

Here is some of the reaction from Twitter after the goal went in.

Transfer news: Ajax wonderkids set for Premier League moves with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United among favourites to sign them

17 Apr

Ajax are through to the Champions League semi-final after despatching Juventus in style.

The Dutch giants dumped Cristiano Ronaldo and co out of the competition thanks to a 3-2 aggregate scoreline, which had neutrals across Europe celebrating.

Ajax players celebrate their win over Juventus

But while it represents a magnificent for both Ajax and European football, proving the game’s modern elite can be beaten when it matter, it feels like it could be this side’s last hurrah.

The collection of wonderkids and experienced aces may be broken up in just two months times as clubs across Europe get ready to raid Amsterdam.

Frenkie de Jong, the classy midfielder, has already sealed his transfer, having penned a move to Barcelona on July 1, which is no surprise given his astonishing ability which saw him, on occasion, embarrass Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric in the Round of 16 victory over Real Madrid.

But where will there other heroes be going when the transfer window opens? have provided the latest odds.

Matthijs de Ligt

The 19-year-old captain has already been hailed by Rio Ferdinand as ‘the best young defender on the planet’ and it seem likely it will cost mega-money to sign him.

Barcelona are favourite to land him come the transfer window, with the Catalan club 8/15 to sign the defender.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich (6/1) are second favourites to sign the starlet, followed by Juventus (12/1), Liverpool (12/1), Real Madrid (16/1) and Manchester United (20/1).

However, with punters, its Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side that is being backed to land De Ligt with 72% of all bets placed on United.

David Neres

The Brazilian helped put Juve to the sword over both legs and a Premier League is one very much on the radar.

Bookies believe he is off to Liverpool or Bayern in the summer – both priced at 6/1 favourites.

Everton are a shock 8/1 inclusion on the list, ahead of Chelsea (9/1), Arsenal (10/1), Tottenham (12/1) and West Ham (16/1).

Hakim Ziyech

Okay, he’s not a wonderkid at 26, but some wondered why the Moroccan ace was still at Ajax when the transfer window closed, now it’s even more of a mystery.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are clear favourites to sign the Moroccan playmaker, priced at just 13/8 to secure his signature.

Elsewhere, Roma are second favourites at 6/1, followed by Juventus (8/1), Borussia Dortmund (10/1), PSG (12/1) and Liverpool (14/1).

Donny van de Beek

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Midfielders linked to Spurs with Mousa Dembele’s exit imminent

14 Jan

Mousa Dembele has been a brilliant signing for Spurs since his move from Fulham in 2012.

The Belgian has made 180 league appearances for the Lilywhites, transforming from jack of all trades to the master of their midfield, and is now set to seal a move to China for £11million.

There’s no doubting it will be hard for Spurs to replace the 31-year-old, but who are the reported targets for Mauricio Pochettino’s side?

Dembele is set to leave Spurs for China has looked at some central midfielders linked to a move to north London.

Florian Grillitsch

One name that has been doing the rounds in the papers is Hoffenheim midfielder Grillitsch.

The Austrian has been watched by Spurs scouts and they have been impressed with his performances for both club and country.

He has made 14 appearances for the Bundesliga side this term, and at just 23, could be a star in the middle of the park for many years to come.

Sky Sports have reported the midfielder has a release clause of £18million in his contract, which still has more than two-and-a-half years left to run.

Spurs are understood to be keen on Florian Grillitsch

Denis Zakaria

Another reported Dembele replacement is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.

The Swiss international shares similar qualities to Dembele – he is good on the ball and is utilised as a shield in front of the defence for the German outfit.

At just 22 years old he could be a very useful addition to Pochettino’s squad.

Spurs chief scout Steve Hitchen has flown out to watch the midfielder in recent months and a bid could be submitted in the coming weeks.

Tottenham fans will also enjoy the signing as Zakaria reportedly rejected the chance to join Arsenal last season.

Franck Kessie

According to Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, Spurs are keen on replacing Dembele with AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

Kessie is currently on a two year loan from Atalanta and AC Milan have an option to buy the midfielder.

The Milan side are interested in doing so but Spurs are seemingly the club who are closest to completing a deal.

A fee of around £36million has been quoted to Tottenham chiefs.

Kessie has made 18 Serie A appearances this season he is no stranger to a goal too, having netted three times for AC Milan.

Tanguy Ndombele

According to the Lyon ace’s agent, Ndombele is likely to be available for £71million, or just under with the right add-ons.

This price is, seemingly, far too steep for Spurs but give Daniel Levy was once willing to shell out £42.5million on the young and inexperienced Davinson Sanchez then he might just get a rare urge to splash the cash.

Tottenham do face competition for the player though with a number of top European clubs wanting his signature, including Everton and Manchester City.

Tanguy Ndombele holds off Raheem Sterling in Lyon’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Manchester City.

Donny van de Beek

The Ajax sensation you aren’t hearing as much about is still be considered by a host of top clubs, including Tottenham.

Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong are getting the headline but Van de Beek is very much a wanted talent and L’Equipe reckon he could cost as little at €20million (£18million).

Paris Saint-Germain are eyeing him as a replacement for Adrien Rabiot but are likely to be challenged all the way by Spurs, who are also casting admiring glances towards his team-mate De Jong.

Scouts from Europe’s top clubs have been travelling to see the midfielder in action for Ajax and he could be on the move soon.

Indeed Barcelona and Chelsea are both interested in Van de Beek, who scored 13 goals in all competitions last season.

But, according to Calciomercato, it is Tottenham who are currently leading the race for the Dutch international.

Scouts from across Europe are monitoring the Dutch maestro.

Spurs, in the words of the Italian news outlet, are in “pole position” to sign Van de Beek next summer.

Tottenham are in the market for reinforcements in the middle of the park as doubts remain over the future of Mousa Dembele – who is out of contract in June.

Van de Beek is viewed as a viable replacement for the Belgian but he will not come cheap, with Ajax demanding around £35m for his signature.
