WWE superstar Elias wears Manchester City shirt to troll Liverpool at live event causing outrage among fans

13 May

It was a disappointing afternoon for Liverpool who were eventually beaten to the crown by Manchester City.

And while the Red half of Merseyside were still coming to terms with missing out on top-flight glory, they then had to contend with being trolled by the world’s biggest wrestling company, WWE.

WWE star Elias trolled the Liverpool audience @WWEtwitter

Wrestler Elias, who is famed for his derogatory songs towards the host city of that particular show, was in action as part of the WWE Live 2019 Tour, with the latest stop at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.

The heel wrestler engaged with the audience, asking them to join him in singing a rendition of the Beatles classic ‘Yesterday’, before telling them he had spun his own take on the song.

Putting down his trusty guitar, Elias got up and slipped on a Man City shirt, with ‘WWE 19’ on the back, causing the crowd to erupt with fury as they booed and heckled him.

He then proceeded to sing the following lyrics; “Earlier today, Man City won their biggest game. Now Liverpool has no more games to play. Except when they lose to the Spurs three weeks away.”

In one of the greatest title races in Premier League history, City finished on 98 points, two less than last season, to win 4-1 against Brighton, despite going a goal down.

Liverpool, who at one point had led the table by seven points, finished on 97 points and will now turn their attentions to the Champions League final against Tottenham on June 1 in Madrid.

He’s not the only superstar to have a laugh at the Reds’ expense, though, as Oasis legend Noel Gallagher joined talkSPORT to ‘congratulate’ Liverpool for having two huge KFC restaurants in the city…
