14 Mar

Tottenham are reportedly interested in Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino.

Vecino, who has 31 appearances for the Uruguay national team, has been with the Serie A club since 2017.

Vecino is reportedly valued at £25million by Inter

He has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three times.

However, Inter are willing to listen to offers in the region of £25million for the player, according to Inter Live.

The 27-year-old is contracted at the San Siro until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Spurs failed to sign a player in the summer of 2018, making them the first Premier League club to do that since the concept of the transfer window was first brought in in 2003.

Maurizio Sarri wants to make Matias Vecino one of his first signings as Chelsea manager, according to reports.

Sarri is set to be named as Antonio Conte’s replacement in the coming weeks, and he is reportedly already drawing up a list of players he wants to bring to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Vecino has starred for Uruguay at the World Cup

And, according to Calcio Mercato, Internazionale’s Vecino is at the top of the wish list Sarri will deliver to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Vecino, 26, is currently starring for Uruguay at the World Cup, helping the South Americans into the quarter-finals of the Russia-hosted tournament.

The midfielder, who joined Inter from Fiorentina last summer, has started all four of La Celeste’s matches, catching the eye with some impressive performances in the centre of the park.

Sarri worked with Vecino while the pair were at Empoli, and he reportedly tried to sign him for Napoli while manager of the San Paolo club.

Chelsea have yet to complete a signing this summer, though deals are reportedly being worked on for Gonzalo Higuain, the Juventus forward, as well as goalkeeper Alisson, currently contracted to Roma.

Chelsea plot move to sign Uruguay midfielder Matias Vecino from Inter Milan

28 Jun

Chelsea have set their sights on Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino.

The 26-year-old moved to the San Siro from Fiorentina last summer as part of a deal worth over £20m.

Vecino is currently playing for Uruguay at the 2018 World Cup

Before that, the Uruguayan was a target for Tottenham but they were pipped to his signature by Inter.

Vecino, however, could finally be about to get his move to England as – according to Mediaset Premium – Chelsea are chasing him.

The Blues are expected to hire Maurizio Sarri as their new manager this summer and he wants to bring in the midfielder.

Sarri is a huge fan of Vecino having watched him in Serie A and he believes he could bolster Chelsea’s options.

The Uruguay international is unlikely to come cheap, though, as Inter want to make a profit on what they shelled out last summer.
