Neymar transfer latest: Brazil star tells Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi he wants Barcelona move – reports

20 Jun

Neymar has reportedly told Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi he wants to return to Barcelona.

The Brazil star left Barca to join PSG in a world record £198million deal in 2017.

Paris Saint-Germain made Neymar the most expensive player ever

And Spanish outlet El Mundo claim Nou Camp president Josep Maria Bartomeu is looking into ways to re-sign Neymar.

The 27-year-old starred for Barcelona in a four-year spell, scoring 105 goals in 186 appearances.

He is alleged to have told Al-Khelaifi: “I do not want to play more in PSG. I want to go back to my house, where I should never have left.”

The news comes after French newspaper L’Equipe reported PSG were willing to sell Neymar for a ‘large offer’ this summer.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi might have to find a replacement for Neymar

The Brazilian is serving a three-game domestic ban for hitting a fan and is also suspended for three Champions League games after insulting match officials following the club’s round of 16 exit to Manchester United.

Earlier this week, Al-Khelaifi warned his players he wants to cut out any ‘celebrity behaviour’ in the dressing room after another disappointing European campaign.

He said: “Players will have to assume their responsibilities even more than before.

“It must be completely different. They will have to do more, work more.

“They are not there to please themselves. And if they do not agree, the doors are open. Ciao!

“I do not want to have any celebrity behaviour anymore.”

Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi insists the club will not tolerate ‘celebrity behaviour anymore’.

The stern warning comes as reports suggest the French champions are willing to sell star man Neymar this summer.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi is desperate to win the Champions League with PSG

The Brazilian has been plagued by ankle injuries this year and received domestic and European bans last season.

Neymar was handed a three-game suspension for hitting a fan following PSG’s French Cup final defeat to Rennes in May.

Neymar could be sold by PSG this summer

He was also given a three-game Champions League ban for insulting officials on social media after his side’s shock last-16 exit to Manchester United in March.

In an interview with France Football, Khelaifi appeared to suggest he wants to eradicate that sort of behaviour from PSG.

He said: “Players will have to assume their responsibilities even more than before.

Leeds United takeover latest: PSG owners WILL take control at Elland Road ‘sooner rather than later’ according to leading French journalist

5 Jun

The Qatar Royal Family are closing in on a deal to buy Leeds United, according to reports.

Rumours began to surface at the start of the week suggesting Qatar Sports Investments billionaire president Nasser Al-Khelaifi would be meeting Andrea Radrizzani in Doha with a view to buying the Whites.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of PSG, is closing in on Leeds United

Although rumours of this this meeting in the Qatari capital city have been quashed, leading French journalist Julien Laurens told talkSPORT a deal is actually tantalisingly close.

“The owners of PSG, the Qatar Royal Family, are very keen on buying Leeds,” Laurens revealed to Jim White on talkSPORT.

“They know the owner there very well, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is the PSG chairman and who is very close to the Qatar Royal Family and he is very good friends with Radrizzani [the Leeds owner].

“Just to explain it quickly, there is obviously big competition between the Qatar Royal Family and the Abu Dhabi Royal Family, who own Manchester City.

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani spent big to try and secure promotion

“And they have expanded their brand everywhere in the world; in Japan, in Australia, in the U.S and the MLS and in Spain as well.

“And in Qatar, they are thinking ‘well, we should be the same really’ to expand the brand and get a few clubs.

“And Leeds would very much be part of that.

“I think they have been in interested in the English market for a long time – they also looked at AS Roma – but it looks like Leeds ticks a lot of the boxes for them.

“I would be very surprised if that takeover doesn’t actually happen. I think it will happen sooner rather than later.”

Al-Khelaifi bought PSG back in 2011 and has since gone on to splash the cash on some of the biggest stars in football, including Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Whoever does own Leeds will still have Marcelo Bielsa in charge in Yorkhire, after the Argentine confirmed his desire to stay, despite missing out on promotion.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel signs contract extension to end Juventus speculation

25 May

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has signed a 12-month contract extension to remain with the club until 2021.

The German had been linked with the soon-to-be vacant Juventus job with Massimiliano Allegri set to leave Turin at the end of the season.

The PSG hierarchy have shown faith in Thomas Tuchel

Tuchel replaced Unai Emery at the Parc des Princes last summer and helped the club retain a third successive Ligue 1 title as they finished 16 points ahead of second-placed Lille.

But it has not been plain sailing for the former Borussia Dortmund manager, whose PSG side lost in the final of the Coupe de France and quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue.

And Marcus Rashford’s injury-time penalty saw Manchester United knock PSG out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage in March.

It had put his job under scrutiny, however that has been lifted after he and his backroom staff signed new deals until June 30, 2021.

Tuchel said: “I’m delighted to extend my contract and commitment to Paris Saint-Germain. I’d like to thank the chairman and the whole club for their trust in me and my staff.

“This only reinforces my ambition to bring this team to the very top through hard work. I’m also very touched by the backing of our supporters, and I’m sure that the best is yet to come for our club.”

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi added: “For a year now, Thomas has been bringing fantastic energy to the daily life of the club, not only for the players, but for the whole of Paris Saint-Germain.

“Our supporters immediately took to this coach, who is always keen to share his analysis and emotions with as many people as possible. Thomas is a huge football fan and a very demanding manager who also listens to others.

“Thomas has expertise in the game as well as great managerial skills, and we are delighted to be able to rely on his qualities on a long-term basis.”
