One was scheduled to be at the new Tottenham arena but delays to its construction meant it was moved.

The £1billion stadium is the first purpose built NFL stadium outside of the United States.

Tottenham’s new stadium has a capacity of 62,062

It is equipped with two playing surfaces, one for NFL games and one for Spurs to use.

The inaugural NFL game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will see the Oakland Raiders host the Chicago Bears on Sunday, October 6.

The Raiders have been a fan favourite in the UK and made the journey to London last year. This is ahead of their move to Las Vegas in 2020.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars – Sunday, November 3 (Wembley)

The second at the new stadium will be on Sunday, October 13 between the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who will be the home team.

English defensive end Efe Obada exploded onto the NFL scene during the 2018 season with the Panthers with a sack and interception in his first game and was named as the NFC player of the week.

Jared Goff’s LA Rams lost in the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots

After a week’s break, the next match will see the LA Rams host the Cincinnati Bengals at Wembley on Sunday, October 27.

Last year’s Super Bowl runner’s up, the Rams, will be hoping their star players like Todd Gurley, Aaron Donald and Jared Goff can inspire them to another run in the post-season.

The final match of the London Games will be on Sunday, November 3, when the Jacksonville Jaguars will host the Houston Texans.

The Jags, who share an owner with Fulham, will be playing in their seventh consecutive season in London.

New quarterback Nick Foles, who won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles two seasons ago, will have to content with the defensive might of the the Texans who boast three-time defensive player of the year J.J. Watt in their ranks.

NFL London games for 2019 announced as Super Bowl bound Los Angeles Rams play the Cincinnati Bengals, while the Chicago Bears face the Oakland Raiders

21 Jan

The NFL has announced the four London games set to be played in 2019.

Next season will see the Super Bowl bound Los Angeles Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals in the English capital.

LA Rams celebrate Greg Zuerlein’s game-winning field goal against the New Orleans Saints which saw them reach Super Bowl LIII.

The matches also see the Houston Texans make their London bow with a clash against the Jacksonville Jaguars, while the Carolina Panthers are also make their debut in the capital as they meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, the fourth tie sees the Chicago Bears face the Oakland Raiders, who lost to the Seattle Seahawks at Wembley in 2018.

Two games will be played at Wembley Stadium and two at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but the dates and times are yet to be announced.

So why should you be excited by the four fixtures announced? talkSPORT’s NFL presenter Will Gavin gives us the lowdown.

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

An NFC South divisional rivalry game with a team playing in London for the first time – what’s not to love?! The NFC South has recently been one of the most competitive divisions in football, coming within three points of providing 3 Super Bowl teams in 4 years last weekend.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is heading to London.

The Panthers, if Cam Newton is fit, have been consistently fun to watch but it’s the home team I’m most intrigued by. Hampered by poor coaching over recent years the Bucs have a lot of talent, and this offseason have brought in one of the most exciting head coaches in Bruce Arians.

Arians loves to have the quarterback throw the ball deep, his QB Jameis Winston loves to take risks – this game should be a lot of fun!

Chicago Bears @ Oakland Raiders

The Chicago Bears are reigning NFC North Champions after winning 12 games this past year and have one of the most exciting young and creative head coaches in football, plus their fearsome defense, led by Khalil Mack, are as close to the vintage 1985 Bears they’ve ever been.

Khalil Mack is one of the top defensive players in the NFL.

The Raiders had a rough 2018, but with three first round picks in the upcoming NFL draft could turn up with one of the most dynamic young teams the NFL has to offers.

Oh, and the Bears’ superstar defensive player, the aforementioned Mack, is a former Oakland Raider – adding some extra spice to this contest!

These are two of the most followed teams in the UK so expect a phenomenal atmosphere.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Los Angeles Rams

The Super Bowl bound Los Angeles Rams! We could have the Super Bowl champions in London in back-to-back seasons should they be successful – exclusively live on talkSPORT on Sunday, February 3. That in itself is enough to sell this game.
Can quarterback Jared Goff lead the LA Rams to Super Bowl glory?
But the Bengals are an intriguing team themselves – searching for a head coach right now for the first time in 16 years, they are loaded with talent but perennial underachievers at the business end of the season. They’re one of my teams to watch for 2019.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars return to London for their seventh consecutive season, and it’s another divisional match up as their AFC south rivals the Houston Texans make their London debut.
DeShaun Watson could put on a show in London.

The AFC South gave us two play-off teams this year (including the Texans), and very nearly three – whilst the Jaguars were moments away from the Super Bowl last season, and if they make the expected change at quarterback could easily bounce back from a difficult 2018 to challenge again this coming season.

There are several of the best defensive players in the NFL likely to be on display, plus Texans QB DeShaun Watson and Wide Receiver DeAndre Hopkins might be the best tandem in the NFL at the moment – another fun match up!

You can listen to live and exclusive UK radio commentary of Super Bowl 53 between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams on talkSPORT – live from Atlanta, Georgia at 11pm.

Tottenham Hotspur stadium news: NFL side Oakland Raiders could spend season at new London arena

30 Dec

Tottenham are reportedly in talks with Oakland Raiders about sharing the Premier League side’s new stadium next season.

The NFL side are currently set to be homeless next year after their lease ran out at the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum, while their new home in Las Vegas won’t be ready until 2020.

This series of events could see the Raiders play their eight home matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which has a separate pitch for American football games.
Spurs are due to host two International Series games at the arena already but that would rise to 10 if they come to a deal with the Raiders.

The Oakland Raiders celebrate during their victory over the Denver Broncos.

According to the Daily Mail, the NFL side have several options on the table, including playing across the bay at AT&T Park, home of San Francisco’s baseball team, sharing the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Or they could even play in San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, which was vacated by the Chargers in 2017.

The Raiders’ new stadium in Las Vegas is under construction.

NFL commentator and writer Ray Glazer revealed: “London is now an option for the Raiders. It is being discussed for them to play there next year. They are still trying to figure it out.

“The Raiders are discussing it. Do they play four home games, four away games, and back and forth again? “The Raiders don’t have a home next year. London is a possibility as of now.”

If the move to London does happen the NFL will consider it as a serious test as to whether London could possibly have its own franchise.
