Champions League draw: Is this Liverpool’s worst-case scenario?

Last season’s Champions League finalists Liverpool get another shot as they enter their second consecutive season in the competition.

The will want to avenge their defeat at the hands of Real Madrid this year but could face a tough group.

Salah was forced off with injury in the Champions League final

Due to their UEFA Coefficient, the Reds are stuck in Pot 3 in the Champions League draw and know they will be facing at least two top teams.

But, when you have a front three like Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah, elite sides will be more worried about ending up against Liverpool.

So, what is the worst-case scenario for Jurgen Klopp’s side? talkSPORT.com takes a look.

Pot 1 – Barcelona

Liverpool lost the final to Real Madrid last season but playing Barcelona will worry them this time out. Even with Virgil van Dijk you have to worry about how a full strength Barcelona would look against them. Lionel Messi would potentially target his partner, while their full-backs could be pinned back by the likes of Jordi Alba.

Pot 2 – Borussia Dortmund

The German side may have lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but they are improving as they bring youth into their team, including English starlet Jadon Sancho, once of title rivals Manchester City. As they look to get back amongst the European elite they could rock Liverpool.

Pot 4 – Inter Milan

After a lengthy absence from the Champions League, Internazionale are in Pot 4 so will be the team everyone wants to avoid. Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij in defence, Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic in midfield, and Mauro Icardi in attack, they will be tough opponents – and then you have to try and beat Samir Handanovic between the sticks!
