Champions League draw: Is this Manchester United’s best-case scenario?
Pot 1 – Barcelona
Manchester United have not been at their best this season and you have to worry about how a full strength Barcelona would look against them. Lionel Messi on form at the Theatre of Dreams would be the stuff of nightmares for Jose Mourinho.
Pot 3 – Monaco
Now a blend of youth and experience, Leonardo Jardim’s side have had to do more work in the transfer market this summer to build a competitive squad. They still have the likes of Radamel Falcao, Kamil Glik, and Danijel Subasic, but now they have got Pietro Pellegri in, along with World Cup star Aleksandr Golovin.
Pot 4 – Inter Milan
After a lengthy absence from the Champions League, Internazionale are in Pot 4 so will be the team everyone wants to avoid. Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij in defence, Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic in midfield, and Mauro Icardi in attack, they will be tough opponents – and then you have to try and beat Samir Handanovic between the sticks!
