‘Fans will want Lawwell’s head’ – Some Celtic supporters blast ‘scandalous’ decision to consider selling Moussa Dembele

29 Aug

Celtic fans have endured a tough summer which has seen their team struggle in the transfer market while local rivals Rangers have been splashing the cash.

The Gers, under new manager Steven Gerrard, are set to complete their 13th signing of the summer, with Celtic only managing to capture four players so far.

Rodgers’ transfer plans have largely gone up in smoke

And of those four, only one, Daniel Arzani, is a new player.

Scott Bain and Odsonne Edouard have been brought in on permanent deals after spending last season on loan at Parkhead, and Emilio Izaguirre is back with Celtic a year after leaving the club at the end of his contract.

And things could go from bad to worse for the Hoops, with it looking increasingly likely star forward Moussa Dembele is going to leave Celtic before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The Frenchman is reported to have missed training on Wednesday amid rumours of a move to Marseille or Lyon, with Celtic said to be ready to discuss the sale of the 22-year-old.

Furthermore, Brendan Rodgers confirmed Demeble and his representatives have been speaking to the club about his future.

Given Dembele has scored over 50 goals in his two seasons at Parkhead, the club’s decision to talk about selling the player has not gone down at all well with the Celtic faithful.

Dembele is said to be keen on returning to his homeland of France

Fans took to Twitter to react to the news and blast the club for what would be a ‘scandalous’ decision.
