Vinnie Jones has told Mesut Ozil to ‘go and do something he can be proud of’ if he doesn’t enjoy earning £350,000-a-week for Arsenal.
The Gunners midfielder made himself unavailable for Saturday’s victory over West Ham, citing illness as the reason, however rumours have emerged of a training ground bust-up between Ozil and Unai Emery.
Ex-Wimbledon midfielder Jones blasted the German’s attitude and issued a stern warning to the 29-year-old.
He told talkSPORT: “If you’re not enjoying it, go and build motorways or something.
“Go into hospitals and cook dinner for people. Go and do something you can be proud of if you’re not happy being in the limelight and having the most fantastic job in the world.
“[When I played] it was your lifelong dream, it was the privilege, it was the buzz of the crowd.
“I played right-wing, I played centre-forward, I played centre-back, I played in goal and I was on £150-a-week.
“If it definitely is that he’s not playing because he’s not happy with the position he’s playing, then he needs sorting out properly.”
Emery labelled stories surrounding Ozil’s absence as ‘untrue’ and continues to insist that he was missing due to illness, however as many have pointed out, it remains odd that he was then allowed in the dressing room before the West Ham game.
