KSI declares intention to take a break from boxing and push back the Logan Paul rematch date

28 Aug

Following his fight with Logan Paul on Saturday, YouTuber/Boxer KSI has stated that he intends to now take a break from boxing and put off their rematch for a while.

The bout officially ended in a majority draw as the two YouTubers couldn’t be separated after their six-round contest.

KSI has over 19 million YouTube subscribers and 4 billion video views

They are already signed up for a rematch, though KSI has told talkSPORT that he doesn’t want it to happen in February as planned.

“It looks like it’s probably going to happen in America,” the 25-year-old revealed on Hawksbee and Jacobs.

“I think in the contract it was February, but I personally do not want it to be that early.

“I want a break because I’ve had two back-to-back fights this year so I wanna just take my time, chill with my family and friends, enjoy my life a bit.

“Literally I have just been eating strict, training hard for pretty much a year so I think it would be good to just step back.”

Reflecting on the event as a whole, KSI (full name Olajide Olatunji) stated that he was still in disbelief at how far he had come in life.

Since originally starting out making humorous YouTube videos about FIFA from his bedroom as a teenager, the Watford man has now become an internet sensation and is able to bring his audience over to an entirely new sport.

“Ten years ago when I started this whole YouTube thing I never thought I’d be in a ring, especially at Manchester Arena in front of thousands there live and millions around the world.

“If someone had told me that ten years ago, I’d have told them they’re smoking something.”

KSI was reported by some outlets to have earned upwards of £40m for the fight, but he dismissed these claims.
