Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Hector Herrera is in advanced talks with Inter Milan over a summer free transfer.
The Premier League duo have monitored the Porto midfielder in the last few seasons but are yet to make a concrete move at this time.
Herrera, 28, is out of contract in the summer and he is still yet to pen an extension, which has opened the door to a departure.
Both Arsenal and Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the Mexico international, who has impressed in the Portuguese top flight since arriving from Pachuca in 2013.
But there is a new front-runner in a race to land him at the end of the season – Inter Milan.
According to Sport Italia, the San Siro club are already in discussions about a possible swoop which could come via a pre-contract agreement in the new year or a cash switch during the transfer window.
