Yaya Toure is expected to join Olympiakos this week.

The former Manchester City star is a free agent having left the Etihad Stadium at the end of last season.

Yaya Toure made just one league start in his final season for Manchester City

His agent, Dimitry Seluk, posted a cryptic message on Twitter on Tuesday, announcing Toure had passed a medical in London.

That led to much speculation the 35-year-old was poised to join another Premier League club.

But it is understood that Toure actually underwent a medical with Olympiakos in the English capital.

The Greek side and senior club officials are currently in England ahead of the second leg of their Europa League qualifier against Burnley on Thursday.

Toure spent a season at Olympiakos early in his career, winning a league and cup double before moving on to Monaco.

Yaya Toure lifted the Premier League title for a third time last season

He went on join Barcelona, spending three seasons at the Nou Camp and winning LaLiga, the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey.

A move to Manchester City followed in 2010 and Toure spent eight years at the Etihad.

He is one of their most successful ever players, having won three Premier League titles, two League Cups and one FA Cup.

But the Ivory Coast international struggled for game time following Pep Guardiola’s appointment as manager in 2016 and had a difficult relationship with the Spaniard.

Following his departure from City, Toure accused Guardiola of “having problems” with African players, and claimed his outstanding coaching reputation was “a myth”.
